Hummus is great for snack time, especially when you can make it feel so different by adding other flavors, like this Sweet Potato Hummus recipe that the whole family can enjoy. Simple to make using a food processor to blend canned chickpeas, a couple sweet potato baby purees, garlic, tahini, lemon juice, and sea salt. Plate a portion for stage and age, adding cooked carrots for baby and crackers for toddler and the family.
Serving size: 1 tbsp Toddler
Makes 1.5 cups
Stage: Crawler (8mo+) with cooked carrots, Toddler (12mo+) with crackers
Ingredients :
- 1 15 oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 2 4oz tubs of Gerber® 2nd Foods® Sweet Potato Puree
- 1 garlic clove
- ⅓ cup tahini
- ½ lemon, juiced (or a tbsp lemon juice)
- ½ tsp sea salt
- Water, as needed, to blend
- Boiled carrots, for serving toddler 12mo+
- Whole Wheat Crackers, for serving toddler 12mo+
Steps:
- Add all ingredients to a food processor and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust flavors to suit your taste.
- Plate a portion appropriate to your baby’s age and stage and serve with carrots and crackers.
