About DHA & ARA

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA (arachidonic acid) are fatty acids, or lipids, found naturally in breastmilk. They’re important components of Baby’s healthy brain and eye tissues. During the third trimester of pregnancy, Mom passes DHA & ARA to Baby. After Baby is born, Mom can provide DHA & ARA to Baby by breastfeeding or giving her formula with added DHA & ARA.

Breastmilk is best for babies. However, if you decide to wean or supplement with formula, your baby's body can make DHA & ARA from the fatty acids (linolenic acid and linoleic acid) found in all infant formulas. Some experts believe that infant formulas with added DHA & ARA, such as GOOD START NATURAL CULTURES, may provide additional support for formula-fed infants' brain and eye development. Prep & Storage

Powder Instructions

Your baby’s health depends on carefully following the formula’s preparation, use, and storage instructions. Ask your baby’s doctor about infant formula-feeding^† including how much to feed and the need to sterilize (boil) water and preparation utensils before mixing formula.

WARNING: Do not use microwave to warm formula. Warming formula above, or using water warmer than 100º F (40º C), will compromise the benefits of the BIFIDUS BL™ cultures.

Always wash your hands and utensils before preparing formula.

Microwaves create hot spots in the liquid that can burn your baby. Instead, heat a bowl of water in the microwave or on the stove. Then, place a filled bottle into the bowl of warmed water, and let it stand a few minutes. Gently shake the bottle to distribute the warm formula. Before feeding it to your baby, put a few drops onto your wrist to make sure the formula is only barely warm.

1. Pour desired amount of water into bottle. See chart below.



2. Add 1 unpacked level scoop (8.7g) of powder for each 2 fluid ounces of water. (Only use enclosed scoop. Separate it from frame.)
3. Cap bottle, SHAKE WELL. Feed baby immediately OR refrigerate and use bottles within 24 hours. After feeding begins, discard formula left in bottle within 1 hour.

STORAGE: Refrigerate and use the prepared bottles within 24 hours. Tightly cover the open can of powder formula, and use within one month. Store can in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme storage temperatures.
